Doctor On Demand, the US telehealth service, has announced the launch of Synapse, a primary care platform for health plans and employers.

According to the company, 30% of Americans do not have a primary care physician. Yet there is demand from patients for continuity of care provision, and a significant proportion of Doctor On Demand patients request to see the same physician on repeat visits. The company’s new service enables physicians to act as a primary care providers.

The Synapse ‘Digital Medical Home’ gathers data from all devices and enables sharing across provider networks. With this it offers continuity of care, and smart referrals to specialists outside Doctor On Demand.
