Prenetics, the genetic screening company, has acquired Soma Analytics, the developer of workplace stress relief app Kelaa.

Kelaa is an app-based solution for businesses and employees to ‘beat stress at work’. It is designed to reduce the costs associated with employee absenteeism, presenteeism and staff turnover, whilst increasing employee resilience, productivity and engagement. The app is used by medium to large enterprises, and claims EY and the NHS as clients.

Avi Lasarow, CEO of Prenetics International said: “We are delighted to welcome the Soma Analytics brand into the Prenetics family. Soma bring with them a depth of world-class research into the impact of workplace preventative health, allied to a truly impactful and measureable mobile app Kelaa, that is already having a demonstrative effect in the workplace. This move perfectly complements our existing genetics offerings, meaning we can provide corporates, enterprises and insurers a suite of solutions that give their staff the most personalised wellness programmes possible.”

In 2018, Prenetics, based in Hong Kong, ‘joined forces’ with DNAFit, the UK-based wellness genetics company. Using home swab tests, DNAFit offers customers the chance to unlock fitness and nutrition advice tailored around their unique personal genetics.

DNAFit’s advisory board includes former England football player Rio Ferdinand. The DNAFit Academy was launched by Ferdinand earlier in January and focuses on illness prevention. It will provide everyone who takes a DNAFit test with insight on the food and exercise that their body will genetically respond best to, as well as potential diseases they may be more susceptible to developing.
