Healthtech AI has a new non-profit body supporting its implementation with the launch today of the Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (AAIH).
The AAIH will work to promote the use of AI in healthcare by educating the public about its benefits and risks, promoting investment in AI-related research and development, and working with government officials in the US, European Union and other jurisdictions to develop regulatory and technology standards. It has formed six committees to oversee its aims: Education and Accreditation, Federal Engagement and Regulatory Affairs, Investment and Commercialization, Communications, Technology and Standards Development, and Industry Performance and Data Analytics.
The founding members of the AAIH include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Bayer, Beyond Limits, BlackThorn Therapeutics, The Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Cyclica, Envisagenics, GE Healthcare, Genialis, GSK, Insilico Medicine, Johnson & Johnson, minds.ai, Netrias, NuMedii, Numerate, Nuritas, Owkin, Progenics Pharmaceuticals, Recursion, SimplicityBio, and University of Pittsburgh.
“In selecting industry experts from established and emerging companies to lead AAIH, the Board has demonstrated its commitment to the integration of AI across the full spectrum of healthcare with the goal of improving patients’ lives by creating more efficient, sustainable and accessible biomedical research and healthcare systems,” said Annastasiah Mudiwa Mhaka of Adjuvant Partners, who will be serving as the President of the organisation.
